Thousands of students returned to Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) on September 2, 2025, marking the start of the new academic year. At Browning School, staff and district leaders greeted students and families as they arrived for their first day.

Superintendent Brenda Cassellius was present at Browning School for her first opening day in the district. She was joined by Milwaukee Board of School Directors President Missy Zombor, Director Marva Herndon, Milwaukee Teachers Education Association President Ingrid Walker-Henry, district administrators, Playworks staff, and others. Dr. Cassellius shared her thoughts about returning to schools: "Dr. Cassellius expressed her enthusiasm for being back in classrooms and was eager to kick off her first new school year in the district." Governor Tony Evers and State Superintendent Jill Underly visited Browning School to support students as they began the school year.
