Alyssa Schwartz, a 2010 graduate with a major in Elementary Education, is currently featured as the July 2024 alumna. She balances her time between being a full-time mother and a part-time workshop leader for The Math Learning Center.
Reflecting on her time at Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC), Schwartz highlights a European choir tour with the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir as her most cherished experience. "I often find myself reflecting on that time and wishing that I would have treasured every moment even more thoroughly," she says. "Getting to experience the breadth and the beauty of God’s creation while on that tour is something I’ll always cherish."
Since graduation, Schwartz has fulfilled one of her most fervent prayers: raising a Christian family. She expresses gratitude for this opportunity.
Currently, Schwartz's primary goal is twofold: ensuring her children sleep through the night so she can enjoy uninterrupted rest herself.
Schwartz shares an interesting fact about herself: "Most people don’t know that I can do a cartwheel. That tends to surprise second graders and also people my own age."
Her first job involved cleaning carpets for a company owned by a member of her home congregation in Menomonee Falls.
In her career, Schwartz has learned the importance of listening humbly. "You must hear others first in order to understand them more fully and to let Christ lead," she emphasizes.
