Langston Wilson, a player from the Milwaukee men's basketball team, has been chosen to join the King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship. This event is part of the 35th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, scheduled at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix on April 4. The competition will be broadcast live on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET.
Wilson transferred to Milwaukee from Washington this season and made an immediate impact by participating in 32 games and starting in 11 of them. He concluded the season with a shooting percentage of 54.5% from the floor and 64.7% from the free throw line. Wilson averaged 5.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, ranking second on his team and sixth in the Horizon League with a total of 32 blocks. His tally of 25 slam dunks was second highest on his team roster.
The State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships invites top college basketball players nationwide to compete for titles in slam dunking and three-point shooting. The event includes several competitions: the King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship, Hanes Men's and Women's 3-Point Championships, and Dave's Hot Chicken Hot Shot Challenge. Winners of the Hanes Men's and Women's championships will face off in the Skechers Battle of the Champions.
Since its beginning, many prominent college basketball players have participated in this championship before advancing to professional levels. Notable past participants include Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston among others.
