The Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team faced IU Indianapolis at Klotsche Natatorium for their season's first dual meet. The Jaguars secured a victory with a score of 200-100.
"Today was a great day for IU-Indy to come to town," stated head coach Kyle Clements. "They are a very fast team, and they pushed us to be the best that we could be today. After five weeks of intrasquads and time trials it was great to race another Horizon League team."
The Panthers' initial win came when Gunnar Seversen topped the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:40.18, later achieving second place in the 500 freestyle at 4:39.55.
In the sprint events, Ben Lorenz claimed victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.98, while Charlie House won the 100 freestyle clocking in at 46.53.
Alvin Valkki and Andrew Jones took second and third in the 100 breaststroke with times of 58.18 and 58.47 respectively, while Jay Jensen finished second in the 200 individual medley at 1:55.17.
Ben Stitgen earned third place on the 3m diving board with a score of 285.80.
The Panthers concluded positively by winning the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:23.62.
"Our best today is not what our best will become midseason and Horizon league," Clements added. "We have a long way to go and a lot of work to do, but I am looking forward to the process."
Next, the Panthers will travel to Illinois for two meets against UIC on November 1st and Wheaton (Ill.) on November 2nd.
