Hundreds of UWM alumni participated in the 20th annual UWM Alumni Association Panther Prowl 5K, held virtually from October 9 to 13. The event successfully raised $20,000 for student scholarships, bringing the total amount raised over two decades to nearly $600,000.
Two teams stood out during this year's event. The Pacemakers had the largest team with 30 members, while the HBSSW Asphalt Kickers were the top fundraising team, contributing $5,100. Both teams will receive trophies and enjoy bragging rights until next year’s event.
In individual achievements, Itzel Nunez won the Panther Prowl 5K photo submission contest. Her Instagram entry highlighted her first 5K run along Lake Michigan with the Buena Tierra Run Club. She received a set of Google wireless headphones as a prize.
Other participants also received prizes such as gift cards from Performance Running Outfitters and UWM Alumni Association merchandise. Photos from the event can be viewed in the Panther Prowl 2024 Photo Album.
Participants ranged in age from 1 to 88 years old and hailed from 63 cities across 12 states. Teams included SOIS Infomaniacs, Free the Bound Periodicals, and The Running Experiments. Sponsors for this year's event included Direct Supply, Educators Credit Union, Liberty Mutual, and Milwaukee Magazine.
