MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY: 'Blue & Gold' Student-Athlete of June/July: Emma Moravec

Marquette University issued the following announcement on June 3.

Women's distance runner Emma Moravec is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for June and July 2021, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff. 

Moravec graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in bioelectronic engineering and a cumulative GPA of 4.0 for her undergraduate career at Marquette. She has been on the College of Engineering Dean's List, and AD Honor Roll, and earned BIG EAST All-Academic honors all four years. She was a member of the Honors Program at Marquette and earned membership into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national honor society for collegiate athletes. During her last semesters in undergraduate work, Emma was a teaching assistant in the Bioelectronics Engineering Lab. Moravec was a MAGIS Mentor in Athletics, matched with an incoming freshman to help them balance academics and athletics at Marquette.

She is currently a research assistant in the Neural Engineering Interfacing Modulation & Optimization lab at the VA Hospital, and previously had an internship with Boston Scientific in Research & Development. Moravec will pursue her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at the joint Marquette/Medical College of Wisconsin program, with focus on neuroscience research.

The Downers Grove, Illinois native is a three-time All-BIG EAST performer on the track and is Marquette's all-time record holder in the indoor 800-meter run. She is third all time in the outdoor 800 and the indoor 600, in which she is also MU's freshman record holder. She was also awarded Marquette's Raph H. Metcalfe Leadership in Academic Excellence Award for her career in Blue & Gold.
