Mount Mary University issued the following announcement on June 16.
Julie A. Landry, a human resources administrator with over 20 years of leadership experience within the community, has been named Mount Mary University’s Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). In this role Landry will support under-represented populations and educate students and employees to increase knowledge, understanding and skills related to DEI.
In this new role at Mount Mary University, Landry serve as a member of the President’s Council and the campus leadership team. She will coordinate the multiple DEI efforts that Mount Mary has initiated to ensure consistency and implementation of the DEI vision for the University. Given her expertise in human resources and DEI she will assist in developing strategies for recruiting, hiring and retaining more faculty, staff and administration of color. Landry will facilitate DEI events and collaborate across campus entities on institutional actions and responses to DEI.
Landry, who has worked with some of the largest public sector employers in Wisconsin, has a proven record of improving systems by reengineering business practices. She has completed over 32 hours of diversity, equity and Inclusion training, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and White Belt Training, and is currently enrolled in eCornell University’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate Program.
Landry is a licensed as a teacher for grades 1-6 and as a K-12 principal by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and English and a master’s degree in administrative leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a member of TEMPO Milwaukee and serves on the board of directors of the Mequon Nature Preserve and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators.
