Marquette University High School recently issued the following announcement.
Marquette University High School is among an elite group of 23 private schools in the United States and the only Wisconsin high school recognized as a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School, the U.S. Department of Education has announced.
This is the highest honor given by the U.S. Department of Education. MUHS is honored in the Exemplary High Performing category for academic performance. The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.
"This year's cohort of honorees demonstrates what is possible when committed educators and school leaders create vibrant, welcoming, and affirming school cultures where rich teaching and learning can flourish," said U.S. Department of Education Secretary Cardona. "I commend this school and all our Blue Ribbon honorees for working to keep students healthy and safe while meeting their academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. In the face of unprecedented circumstances, you found creative ways to engage, care for, protect, and teach our children. Blue Ribbon Schools have so much to offer and can serve as a model for other schools and communities so that we can truly build back better."
"This is exceptional recognition of the outstanding education we provide at MUHS and the key role it plays in transforming our students into Christ-like men for others," said MUHS President Rev. Michael J. Marco, S.J. "We congratulate our dedicated MUHS faculty and staff who consistently exceed expectations for delivering an innovative curriculum that prepares students to be intellectual, open to growth, religious, loving, and committed to justice."
MUHS provides a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum in which students participate in both Advanced Placement and college credit courses, consistently qualify as National Merit Scholars, and achieve at among the state's highest levels as measured by state and national assessments, including the ACT college admissions test.
Marquette University High School is the premier Catholic, Jesuit, college-preparatory school for young men in Wisconsin. Founded in 1857, MUHS educates 900 young men from more than 135 parochial, private and public grade schools and middle schools in five counties. With a commitment to educating the whole student in a caring environment, faculty and staff provide passionate instruction in an intellectually rigorous environment steeped in Catholic values and Jesuit principles of service, leadership, and integrity.
