The Milwaukee Bucks recently visited the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus to engage with students and promote voter participation. The visit aimed to encourage students to take an interest in the upcoming elections and exercise their right to vote.
During the visit, the Bucks' in-game music coordinator, DJ Shawna, along with the team's mascot Bango, interacted with students to create a video that emphasizes the importance of voting. In the video, DJ Shawna quizzed students on various aspects of the voting process, including election dates, registration procedures, voting requirements, and early voting options. She humorously remarked, "I’m a wealth of knowledge. I’m not just a DJ, he’s not just a deer."
The video, which was shared on the Bucks’ community service Instagram and Facebook pages, was released on the day of Wisconsin’s spring primary election. This initiative is part of the Bucks’ ongoing commitment to community service and aligns with the NBA's broader efforts to promote voter engagement.
Through their visit to UWM and the creation of the educational video, the Milwaukee Bucks have demonstrated their dedication to empowering young voters and fostering civic participation among the student population.
