According to the Business Journal, this list celebrates individuals who are contributing to making the Milwaukee area a better place to live and work.
In her role, Freiburger oversees the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, the School of Education, and the School of Information Studies. She has been instrumental in conducting research on gender and racial disparities in criminal justice decision-making. Freiburger has also collaborated with local criminal justice agencies on various studies and program evaluations focusing on areas such as juvenile offending, mental health needs of youth, police and juvenile relations, work programs for probationers and parolees, and disparities in prosecutorial and judicial decision-making.
Freiburger's contributions extend beyond research, as she has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, secured substantial external grants, and authored or edited four books. Additionally, she serves on the editorial boards of esteemed academic journals such as Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice, Race and Justice: An International Journal, and Journal of Crime and Justice.
The Milwaukee Business Journal received a record number of nominations for this year's Women of Influence program, totaling about 175 submissions. The winners, including Freiburger, will be recognized in a special section in the June 7 issue of the Business Journal and at an awards event on June 5 at the Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee.
