High school juniors attending any Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) can now apply to Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), and other University of Wisconsin colleges in under five minutes at no cost. The application process, designed to begin students' college journeys by Fall 2025, has a deadline of June 14, 2024.
The Milwaukee Direct Admit program connects MPS academic records directly to MATC or UWM through a streamlined application form requiring only the student's name and MPS student ID number. Another initiative, Direct Admit Wisconsin, allows applications to certain University of Wisconsin schools.
To apply to MATC or UWM, students can visit mpsmke.com/directadmit or bring a signed permission slip to an MPS College and Career Center. For other UW schools, students should contact College and Career Center staff and submit their signed permission slips there. Summer locations and hours are available on the College and Career Center webpage. Notably, MPS offers an extended deadline beyond what is listed on the Direct Admit Wisconsin webpage.
Families with questions or those needing assistance can visit mpsmke.com/directadmit. Students may also reach out to MPS College and Career Centers during summer hours for support.
Milwaukee Direct Admit is part of the M3 partnership—a collaboration among Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM)—aimed at transforming education in Milwaukee.
