Milwaukee Recreation is set to host its annual Mother & Son Superhero Night at Hamilton High School on Saturday, November 9. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the event, which invites mothers and their sons, aged 1-8, for an evening filled with games, arts and crafts, and snacks.
The 2024 edition introduces three new activities: the Spidey Sensory Space, Heroic Lava Leap, and Super Slime. These will join popular stations like Race Through Gotham Obstacle Course, Lightsaber Training, Sonic Ring Toss Carnival Game, Headquarters Construction, Selfie Station, Hulk Smash, Arts & Crafts stations with temporary tattoos, Mario Kart - Rainbow Road obstacle course for two people, Fantastic 5 and Under Training for younger participants, and a Costume Contest where the best costumes win prizes.
The Race Through Gotham Obstacle Course challenges participants to navigate obstacles quickly while avoiding villains. In Lightsaber Training participants can demonstrate their skills before facing Darth Vader. The Sonic Ring Toss tests accuracy in a classic carnival game setting. At Headquarters Construction creativity is encouraged using building blocks. Participants can capture memories at the Selfie Station with various props or show off strength at Hulk Smash by imitating the superhero's moves.
Arts & Crafts offer multiple creative opportunities alongside temporary tattoos. Mario Kart - Rainbow Road provides a racing experience through an obstacle course designed for pairs. For younger attendees under five years old Fantastic 5 and Under Training offers dedicated activities.
New this year Super Slime allows attendees to learn slime-making from a certified superhero slime specialist; Spidey Sensory Space offers a sensory-friendly environment with fidget toys soft mats arts & crafts; Heroic Lava Leap involves keeping feet off the ground in a "hot lava" themed game station.
