Speech-language pathologist Rinda Werner reflects on career journey

Rinda Werner, a 1998 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC), is currently a speech-language pathologist at Virginia High Performance and the West Coast Warrior Fitness Program. Reflecting on her time at WLC, Werner highlights the friendships she formed and the supportive environment that helped her grow as a young Christian woman.

Werner pursued further education after graduation, obtaining a Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She has been practicing as a speech-language pathologist for 14 years. "I am blessed to be married to James, and we have our 12-year-old son, Daniel," she shares about her personal life. Additionally, she mentions having had opportunities to travel since completing her studies.

Currently, Werner is working towards earning her Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) certification to enhance her expertise in cognitive communication. In sharing more about herself, she reveals interests such as paddleboarding and playing board games. "I love paddleboarding (though I’ve only done it a handful of times), and I love playing board games and talking smack," she says.

Her career began with roles such as babysitting and working at Kmart before college. After graduating from WLC, she worked at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in the development office as an administrative assistant.

Reflecting on her career journey, Werner notes the importance of continuous learning: "First and foremost, the more I learn, the less I know! There is so much opportunity to grow and learn." She also emphasizes adaptability in dealing with diverse personalities while maintaining faith that "God is always working to accomplish His good work."
