U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has joined a bipartisan group of senators in supporting a resolution that condemns Hamas and supports Israel’s security. The resolution, led by Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.), calls for the release of all remaining hostages, including the remains of two U.S. citizens, and aims to prevent Hamas from reestablishing itself in the region.

“The October 7th attacks demonstrated Hamas’ hatred of the Jewish people and its indifference to the fate of its own people. As we remember the terrible evil of that day, we must be resolute in demanding that Hamas be fully dismantled and play no role in the region moving forward,” Sen. Johnson said.

The resolution is supported by all Senate Republicans as well as several Democratic senators. The full text of the resolution is available online.

Senator Johnson has served Wisconsin since first winning election to the Senate in 2010. He was re-elected in 2016 after defeating Russ Feingold with 50.2% of the vote compared to Feingold’s 46.8%. In 2022, he won another term by defeating Mandela Barnes with 50.4% of the vote against Barnes’ 49.4%.
