As President Joe Biden finishes his first year in office, more than half of likely voters say they are dissatisfied with the administration's leadership.
In the 2020 election, the state of Wisconsin favored Biden and Kamala Harris as its presidential pair. Since then, approval ratings nationwide for Biden have steadily declined.
A national poll by McLaughlin & Associates found 57% disapprove of Biden's job performance, while 41% approve.
Additionally, 56% of respondents view Harris unfavorably, while 39% view her favorably. Opinions of Nancy Pelosi followed a similar pattern: 61% view her unfavorably and 33% view her favorable.
Public opinion and optimism related to their economic well-being has also dwindled.
As of January, 62% of Americans believe the economy is getting worse, while only 30% say it is getting better.
At the beginning of the Biden administration, however, the general opinion of the economy was split more evenly. A year ago, 52% of Americans believed the economy was worsening, while 42% said it was improving.
When asked what issue was currently the most important to them personally, the economy was the most common answer, with 31% of Americans choosing that as the most important issue.
Concern about the COVID-19 pandemic has steadily declined. Only 15% said the coronavirus was the most important issue to them personally compared to 41% in April.
When asked in a recent poll how they felt about making former President Donald Trump’s tax cuts permanent, 61% approved and 26% disapproved.
The January 2022 survey was conducted from Jan. 13 to 18 and polled 1,000 likely general election voters.
